Great Online Gambling Spots

Online betting is just so ideal these days. It is a safe leisure activity in your own home

When Americans think about gambling, they think Las Vegas. Since the late 1940s, this has been the big gambling spot in the United States. Strict gambling laws throughout the United States prevented people from gambling anywhere but in Las Vegas and then Reno. Then holes were seen in the laws and casinos started sprouting in other places. Indian reservations, which are exempt from US laws, began opening up casinos on their territories. People flocked to them.

In the 1980s, it was challenged that the waterways could be used for gambling and riverboat gambling soon became popular. Soon after that, any body of water was considered fair game for a casino. At first, the boats had to move in order for the gambling to commence, but these laws were changed.

Atlantic City became the second largest city to have legalized gambling. Atlantic City is on the east coast in New Jersey, but never took off as big as Vegas, although it was popular with the locals.

In the United States, we could bet at the horse track; but only at the horse track and no where else. Then, in the 1980s, the laws changed and off track betting parlors were established. However, these betting parlors are only for horse racing.

Now the internet gambling has taken the world by storm and some states are trying to forbid citizens from internet gambling. However, these laws are largely unenforceable. And nothing can stop Americans from opening up off shore accounts and gambling in online casinos that are based in other countries.

No longer do people have to travel to go enjoy some of their favorite online casino games. You can gamble right from the comfort of your own home. Make sure that you choose sites that are legitimate in the online gambling world and have been checked out. These sites have been licensed and are regulated just like brick and mortar sites:

Sportsbetting.com is a sports betting site that has been around for a while.

Pokerstars.com takes US players and is another legitimate site.

Sands of the Caribbean is one site that allows you to play all of your favorite casino games and has actually received awards for their honesty.

Winward Casino will allow you to play through your PDA.

These are just a few online casinos that have been proven to be legitimate. There are many, many others. Check them out at various review sites before you make a decision of where you want to play. You can either play from flash at some of the casinos or you can download the software. In some case, you actually have to install the software in a disc form.

You can have a lot of fun playing online gambling and no longer have to travel to Las Vegas or Atlantic City to enjoy your favorite games. Just be sure that you follow the same rules when you gamble and never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

Most of the great online spots are away from the USA for legal reasons
