Online Gambling Scams

Online betting is quite safe. However many sophisticated scams exist also

Before you sign up for a gambling site online, you should make sure that it is a legitimate site that has been around for a while. There are a lot of sites that have great reputations, are monitored and regulated just like brick and mortar casinos. Then there are the scam sites. Just like everything else online, you have to make sure that you stay away from the scams.

One of the biggest gambling scams is one that is played often with online merchant accounts and even site like eBay where money changes hands. It is called phishing. You will get an e-mail that looks like it is from your gambling site. They will inform you that you won something or make it sound urgent that you need to contact them and they will provide you with a link. You click on the link and it will direct you to your site. Or what looks a lot like your gambling site. Then you will put in your user name and password. Guess what? The site you went to was phony. Someone has already gotten into your account, changed the password to lock you out and taken your money.

Another scam that gambling sites have is that they do not pay. It is relatively easy to start a website today. You can be setting yourself up for the quick hit website if you are not careful. The quick hit website promises all kinds of bonuses and promises to pay out after 30 days. After 30 days, the quick hit website has taken money from you and others and is gone. You never see your money again.

While some legitimate sites also wait for a first payout when bonuses are involved, these sites have been around for a while and are legitimate. One way to ascertain the legitimate site from the scams is to locate them through popular search engines like Yahoo and Google. You can also take a look at online gambling site reviews that give you the lowdown of different online casinos. They will not only tell you which sites are legitimate, but also tell you what games are offered and how you can expect to get paid.

The online gambling sites that have been around for a while have very high security - as much as you would expect to see at an online banking site. They do not get hacked into and are pretty safe. You can find these sites by doing a search on the internet. Most of them have been around for at least 5 years or so and are licensed and regulated just as brick and mortar casinos are.

When choosing an online gambling site, start small. Only invest a small amount of money into your bank and see how easy it is to retrieve your money when needed. Also, you can look at online reviews of casinos as well as ask those who also play online where you can play for fun and money that it legitimate.

Online gambling can be a lot of fun, but you have to watch out for the scams that are out there. Whenever there is money changing hands on the internet, there will be someone who will want to get the money the easy way. Avoid the con artists and do not fall prey to their tricks.

Internet Gambling can be fun and profitable also. Of course you have to keep your eyes open for scams
